Activities
The activities available vary from area to area,
and are limited to the sites' natural characteristics. They are designed to
provide our guests with a delightful insight into the culture and daily lives
of the local people, as well as the best possible nature experience.
Our camps have their own set of unique activities
for the enjoyment of all. These include bird watching, fishing, game drives,
boat trips and Mokoro rides (for our camp located in the Delta). Game drives
can be arranged upon request to include a barbeque in the bush at any number of
locations where the serenity of the African bushveld can be truly experienced.
Similarly, sunset drives are also available with the option of enjoying a drink
while watching the sun set over the water at any one of the beautiful locations
in our areas, may it be a waterhole or a river.
Activities that can be arranged in Maun include
Mokoro trips, which range from half to full day trips in the Delta, these are
available as an additional cost. Helicopter or charter flights over the Delta
are also available, at an additional cost. This experience allows you to see
African game from a different perspective and also view the full magnificence
of the Delta and fully appreciate the immense beauty of the country.
Travel/Game drives
Unless otherwise arranged, all photographic safaris will be on a self-drive basis. Special terms and conditions and additional fees may apply for the use of a company vehicle. Certain camps/areas may not be accessable during certain times of the year due to flooding and JCS reserves the right to move clients to alternative camps.
Guides
A registered guide and game scout must accompany
all groups at all times. Our guides, who have an intimate knowledge of the
area, its people, the fauna and flora, are armed to ensure the safety of the
group. All visitors must adhere to the Department of Wildlife and National
Parks and the Company's prescribed rules of conduct. Visitors must at all times
adhere to good eco tourism practises by not littering, disturbing, damaging,
endangering, killing, removing or destroying anything or cause any nuisance
whatsoever to the environment, its fauna and flora or its local
inhabitants.
Meals
Coffee, tea and rusks are served prior to your
early morning game-drive where after a scrumptious brunch awaits you.
Alternatively, a picnic lunch is packed should the group not return to camp for
brunch. A full three-course sit-down candlelight dinner is served.
Non-alcoholic drinks and bottled water is available throughout the day. Basic
liquor, beer and wine are provided around the campfire and at dinner. Guests are welcome to bring their own branded liquor as well. Guests will be required
to complete a client information sheet detailing food and drink preferences
etc. If possible specific brands as requested will be sourced. However, Johan
Calitz Safaris reserves the right to substitute brands which are not available
locally.
Note
Johan Calitz Safaris reserves the right to close
down certain camps at certain times of the year, if sufficient bookings are not
received well in advance. Hunting safaris will at all
times enjoy preference to Photographic safaris during the hunting season
(April to September) and photographic clients must acknowledge the fact that
the outfitter's primary business is that of a hunting safari outfitter. Johan
Calitz Safaris is also at liberty to move clients to different camps should a
photographic safari interfere or pose a clash of interests in any way between
hunting and photographic safaris. |
